Pre-school and combination classes - Students aged 2 thru 8 are taught ballet, tap, jazz, hip hop, tumbling and creative movement all with one goal in mind; the development of a love of music and movement. A structured curriculum with gentle corrections and steady discipline all make for a healthy learning environment for our younger students. Our teachers are trained and experienced in passing their enthusiasm for the art of dance on to these young dancers. Subjects are divided into categories so that your child can choose which subject they prefer or try some of everything. Traditional combo classes always include ballet and tap and are based on age. Pre-school combo classes all include large motor-skill development and basic tumbling.
Beginning Level in ballet, jazz, tap, contemporary, acro, and hip hop. Class length is generally 1 hour and our emphasis is on basic technique and learning good habits that will allow your dancer to grow and strengthen their young bodies while learning to love the art of dance. Students are encouraged to take as many subjects as they are interested in. All students aged 8 or older are allowed to attend these classes. Younger students may be invited to participate based on the evaluation of the teachers and director.
Intermediate level in all forms of dance. Emphasis is on continued strengthening of the body along with more complicated combinations and performance requirements. Class length is 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours. Ballet is offered twice a week and more serious students are urged to take multiple classes in order to improve at the desired rate. Pointe work is offered at this level to students who are determined (by the teacher and director) to be physically ready. Pointe students are required to take two ballet classes per week. Promotion and acceptance into any intermediate class is by evaluation and invitation of the director only.
Advanced level in all styles of dance. Dancers should expect to have 5 or more years of dance experience before being at the acceptable skill level to attend advanced classes. The serious student will take multiple classes in a variety of subjects and is expected to have great attendance and practice at home. Continued strengthening and conditioning of the body along with advanced combinations and performance expectations are a part of this class. Class length is 1 to 1 & 1/2 hours. Ballet is offered three times a week and more serious students are urged to take multiple classes in order to improve at the desired rate. Continuing pointe work is offered at this level to students who are determined (by the teacher and director) to be physically ready. Pointe students are required to take three ballet classes per week. Promotion and acceptance into any advance class is by invitation of the director only.
Every effort is made to keep students of similar levels together. This makes for a fair development of each student based on their ability only and not their age or any other factor. (Children grow and learn at their own rate and personal development should not be rushed or slowed simply because they have or haven’t had another birthday.) Level changes may be made during the first half of the year based on the teachers recommendation and approval of the director. End of the year evaluations will determine the students placement in the next years classes.
